In July 2025 we went to a two-day retreat in the Franconian Switzerland in Trabelsdof near Bamberg. There, we had a great start with an insightful talk and lively discussion about Reinforcement Failing in adaptive tumor therapy presented by Jona Kayser.

To advance the research within our group, we prepared joint presentations about techniques or methods used by multiple group members and how we apply those in our respective projects. Here, we especially focused on future directions of the specific topics and how we might already be able to incorporate the most recent developments of certain techniques into our research projects. Those joint presentations included a wide range of topics from image analysis over reaction-diffusion-equations to neuronal networks.

Apart from the scientific content, fun team events of course also took place. We used entertaining, yet still very informative short PowerPoint karaoke presentations as breaks between scientific discussions. Time for more relaxed get-togethers was provided during our refreshing hike in the beautiful hills around Trabelsdorf and an amusing round of ‘Who am I’ during our game’s night.

All in all, we had a great time and are refreshed as well as inspired to steer our research projects in new directions.
