Girls’ Day at MPZPM 2026

On 23rd of April 2026 the MPZPM invited curious schoolgirls to learn about research at the interface of physics and medicine. Our group took part to illustrate the importance of diffusion across scales. The participants explored interactively how different properties of particles change their diffusive behaviour and, using an augmented reality simulation, how fast various microscopic objects move in and around the cell. They could even probe a computational model to produce fur patterns of animals or patterning in lesions of diseased skin and did so with much enthusiasm.
